rome and the campanian coast are sites of incredible beauty and historical interest, but are also heavily visited by tourists from across the world. we spent the first week in an apartment in rome, then rented a car and drove south. we stayed the second week in a hotel in a small town near sorrento, across the bay of naples from the city of naples. then we drove back to rome , but toured the region around the city, called Lazio, spending one night in tivoli and two nights in ostia.
