ROME

the apartment we rented in rome for the week was ideal: comfortably furnished with considerable space to relax at the end of each day, conveniently located near the colisseum but far enough outside the touristy area, and nicely set within walking distance of a number of great restaurants.

the place was called casa alessandra, we found it through an internet rental agency, and we highly recommend it.

we walked , and walked, and walked! As you can see from the map, and all of the blue lines, we covered a good deal of the area within the ancient walls of rome (shown above in black lines). twice we took the underground metro: once to vatican city (in the northwest corner of this map) and another time to eur, a section of the city developed during the fascist era (not shown on this map).
