Lugo

We were a bit nervous about our trip to Lugo. The main reason we went was because Matt needed to do research there, but the night before we drove there, the owner of the hotel we had stayed in told us that "it is not usual to go to Lugo." Perhaps not. But it should be. We enjoyed our visit very much, all the more because it is not a tourist destination. What Lugo does have are intact Roman walls completely enclosing the old town (albeit somewhat rebuilt), a beautiful cathedral, and charming public squares.

The Roman bridge (much altered).

The Roman baths.

We walked the whole way around the old city on top of the walls.
