Llanes
Llanes (pronounced "Yan-ness") was an unexpected gem. It is not much more than a fishing village on the Asturian coast, and we stopped there only because we spent the night nearby and the hotel owner told us that we should see it. There was a very picturesque medieval town, and an old harbor with a seawall looking out towards the ocean.
One of the beautiful old
buildings of Llanes.
The oldest house in town.
A charming window scene.
Remains of a tower from
the medieval town walls.
A postcard of Llanes from
the air.
We couldn't resist: outside
of Llanes was a small village with this evocative name.
