Artziniega

Artziniega was a small town about a half-hour outside of Bilbao, in the Basque region. Since Bilbao is such a large and industrial city, we decided to stay overnight outside of the city and then drive in the next morning. Our hotel was quaint, a converted sixteenth-century tower. The room was small, but had a nice view, so we walked around the town, bought a few groceries, and had a picnic dinner by the window.

The Basque region is in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains.

There were some very interesting rock formations.
